The Cougar ran and was titled, but it was many miles away from my house. Do I pay someone with the skills, knowledge, and experience to safely tow the car to my house? Or do I buy some sketchy crap from Harbor Freight and do it myself? That’s a tough one.

2017 Racing Wrap-up
In 2017 I made it to one RallyCross event, eight Autocross events, two autocross schools among three SCCA regions, one drag strip, and I put about 3000 total miles on the car. The M3 managed to accomplish all of that without any major failures, but definitely not without some minor failures. Check out what worked and what didn’t:
I took my M3 drag racing – How slow was it?
Drag racing is an American tradition – going fast is a straight line with absolutely no turning. It’s probably the thing my car is worst at. So why not try it?

I’ll have to write more about this car sometime, but it’s too bad that it got trashed. It was a nice car.

Hell hath no fury like an internet argument video response
After mentioning on Jalopnik about how I’m tall and need my seat all the way back to comfortably sit in just about any car, Jalopnik commenter “cream wobbly” got angry with me.
Utes Utes Utes

DMVR Autocross #2
This video shows my 7th and 3rd laps, respectively. My third was my fastest of the day. I tried going the other way in the first optional slalom on the 4th and blew a gate. I missed the same cone in laps 5 and 6, the rear end got loose in the first part of 7 (as you can see), and 8 was mostly clean but about 0.4s slower than lap 3. Read On…

Getting the blown-up 3.2 inline-6 out of my M3 and getting the Ford 5.0 installed in its place and fired up took me 14 days. Getting from there to actually driving the car on the road took 68 days. I was out of the country for a lot of those days, but it turns out there’s still a lot of work to be done to actually get a car road worthy.
